Help grow our Endowment. No amount it too Small. See Class Legacy Update Below.
Based on your input at our last business meeting, we have established an Endowment in the name of the Class of 1969. This will ensure that our class will have a presence in the scholarship picture at our beloved SC State in perpetuity.
· Initial funding is $60,000.
· The endowment agreement is structured to grow the endowment.
· The corpus funds of the endowment (initial funding and subsequent contributions we make) cannot be spent.
· The University can only spend 60% of each year’s earnings on scholarships. The remaining 40% must be retained to grow our endowment. Based on the power of compounding, this account could become substantial over the years depending on how much we add to this initial funding before we all expire. See projections below.
· All future contributions designated as Class of 1969 will go into the endowment.
· We are open for business. You may contribute to the endowment by clicking the donate button on the home page, then select “other” from the drop down dialogue and specify Class of 1969 Endowment.
· Please help us grow our endowment through annual contributions.
· Your contributions will count towards our next reunion initiative so there won't be a big 5 year ask from the reunion committee if you contribute annually.
We hope to build an endowment that will last forever and grow so that the legacy of our class lives on after we are gone.
An endowment is a investment that cannot be spent by the university. Only the earnings may be spent. When an endowed scholarship is given to SC State, the donated money is invested. The University never withdraws any of the principal; only the interest earned from that donation is used to fund scholarships. That makes an endowed scholarship a permanent gift. Whereas a one-time gift may be spent just once, an endowed scholarship keeps on generating income indefinitely.
We have a chance to keep building what we have started and leave a significant class financial legacy. Please review the projections at the bottom of this page to see the outcomes if we fund a given amount over our remaining lifetime. We are asking that all future donations you make to SC State be designated as SC State Class of 1969 Endowed Scholarship Fund.
We hope to have a dropdown box on the University's donation page so that your future donation can be made to the Class of 1969 Endowed Scholarship Fund.
